EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy)
This a non surgical procedure that can help your doctor diagnose digestive problems. He looks through an instrument called an endoscope and is able to visualize your esophagus, your stomach and your duodenum. If he sees any abnormalities such as inflammation, redness, a growth, or ulcers, he can biopsy those areas. These biopsies provide your doctor with additional information.
You will be asleep for this procedure and you will not experience any discomfort.
This is done as an outpatient procedure and you will be at the hospital for only a few hours.
